    Why You'll Love This Recipe

This easy air fryer banana recipe is versatile, quick, and delicious. This dish is so simple to make. With four simple ingredients, less than 15 minutes, and one piece of equipment, this is a winner in my book.

They are a perfect treat for breakfast with oatmeal, on peanut butter toast, with chocolate chip pancakes, brownie baked oats, or with some berry granola bites or almond granola. These bananas are great as a mid-day snack with a little yogurt or nut butter.

They're also an amazing dessert with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of your favorite topping, like whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or honey. Or how about a banana split?

You can also switch things up to make your bananas your own. Want more of a sweet treat? Add a bit of sugar to your bananas. Want something a little more exciting? Add a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Honestly, my favorite thing is to eat them straight out of the air fryer.

Enjoy this dish however sounds best to you!

Two Cloves Kitchen, as an Amazon Affiliate, makes a small percentage from qualified sales made through affiliate links at no cost to you.

    • Ripe Bananas You'll want ripe, fairly firm bananas.
    • Maple Syrup I like to use pure maple syrup, either in the amber or dark variety. Check out this resource on maple syrup for more info.
    • Cinnamon You could also try pumpkin pie or apple pie spice, here.
    • Finishing Salt A pinch of flakey sea salt livens up the whole plate.

How to Make Bananas in the Air Fryer

three peeled bananas on a yellow cutting board.

    Step One Peel the bananas.

Halved bananas sit on a yellow cutting board.

Step Two Halve the bananas lengthwise.

Halved bananas are brushed with maple syrup.

Step Three Coat the bananas with maple syrup.

halved bananas are dusted with cinnamon.

    Step Four Sprinkle with cinnamon.

bananas brushed with maple syrup and dusted with cinnamon in the air fryer basket.

Step Five Place bananas in the air fryer basket and cook at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 to 7 minutes, until just golden. Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the air fryer.

Step Six Remove from the air fryer with a set of tongs. Sprinkle with flakey sea salt and serve warm.

    Variations & Substitutions

    • Instead of halved bananas, try banana slices!
    • Use pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice in place of cinnamon.
    • Add a bit of coconut sugar for a sweeter air fryer banana dessert.

    How to Store

Fridge Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days in the fridge.

Freezer I do not recommend freezing this dish. You can, however, freeze whole, peeled bananas for about 3 to 6 months.

Reheating I recommend placing these back in the air fryer at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for a few minutes until warmed through. You can also reheat them on the stovetop with a bit of oil or butter.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What fruit can you cook in the air fryer?

Some of my favorite fruits to cook in the air fryer are apples and pears. Check out the More Recipes to Try section below for these recipes!

What does air frying do to fruit?

With an air fryer, you can create a texture similar to traditional oven-baked fruit, or you can cook fruit for a longer time at a lower temperature to create dehydrated fruit.

    Are air fryer fruits healthy?

While there are many different measures of health, air fryer fruit tends to maintain its nutrients while using less fat than is needed for other methods of cooking.

Check out this article from Healthline for more information about the health benefits of air fryer cooking.

    How to Serve

You can make air fryer bananas as a part of breakfast, a snack, or a dessert. Here are some ways I recommend serving:

Serve with oatmeal, peanut butter waffles with chocolate chips, or baked chocolate donuts for a filling morning meal.

Have it over toast with your favorite nut butter.

Try them with a bit of yogurt for a snack.

You could also have it with this bread machine banana bread, this cheap banana bread, or these banana bread pancakes for a banana-filled breakfast.

They would also be delicious served with these strawberry muffins, gluten-free waffles, or this blueberry French toast casserole!

Add them to a brunch spread, with a sausage spinach quiche, some fruit salad, this crepe recipe, and these Starbucks copycat pumpkin scones.

For dessert, try them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or serve as a banana split, or served alongside a strawberry poke cake.

a pinch of flakey sea salt is added to the air fryer bananas sitting on a white plate.

    Expert Tips

    • If you would like your bananas stickier and a bit sweeter, use 2 tablespoons of maple syrup instead of 1 and brush both sides of the cut bananas.
    • If you'd like to make more than 3 bananas, work in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket.
    • You can use parchment paper or cooking spray to help with the cleanup process. Just cut a round of parchment paper to fit the air fryer basket or spray it with a bit of cooking spray before adding the fruit.
