Why You'll Love Salsa Salad Dressing

This salsa dressing recipe is creamy, tangy, and bold. It has the flavors of your favorite salsa - juicy ripe tomatoes, chopped onion, fresh cilantro, and bright lime juice - combined with rich and velvety Greek yogurt and mayonnaise.

It's versatile. Use this dressing over taco salad (or just a regular side salad), as a dip for fresh vegetables, in a wrap, or as a condiment for tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas.

It's delicious drizzled over grilled or roasted meats, fish, and vegetables, too!

As far as dressings go, salsa dressing is a relatively healthy choice. Salsa is a great source of vitamin C and potassium, and Greek yogurt adds a bit of protein to your meal. Check out this article on the health benefits of salsa for more info.

Finally, this dressing is incredibly quick and easy to make. You can throw this together in under 5 minutes. I love having some on hand in the fridge to dress up dinner or toss with a quick salad!

    • Salsa This recipe for pico de gallo is fantastic here, but feel free to use jarred or fresh salsa from your local grocery store.
    • Greek Yogurt I recommend using full-fat Greek yogurt . The taste and texture turns out best this way.
    • Mayonnaise
    • Lime Juice Fresh lime juice is always preferable, but if you can't find any, bottled lime juice will do just fine.
    • Salt My preference is always kosher salt. It's less salty per teaspoon than table salt or sea salt, so it's easier to season as you go.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Creamy salsa dressing is made with mayo, Greek yogurt, salsa, lime juice and salt. You can mix the ingredients by hand for a dressing with more texture, or blend it for a smoother end result.

What's the difference between a vinaigrette and a creamy dressing?

A vinaigrette is a combination of oil and an acidic ingredient, like vinegar or citrus juice, that is seasoned with salt and other flavorings. A creamy dressing includes an element that makes the dressing taste, well, creamy, such as mayo, yogurt, or sour cream.

The Greek yogurt in this creamy dressing will help to thicken it. If you find the dressing is a bit thin, you can add more yogurt or mayo, and stir well to combine. You can also try blending the ingredients!

    Expert Tips

    • If your dressing is a bit thin, you can add a little extra mayo and Greek yogurt to thicken it. If it's too thick, try adding an extra squeeze of lime juice or some of the liquid from your salsa.
    • Thicker salsas tend to do better in this dressing, like pico de gallo or roasted salsa with larger pieces of tomato, pepper, and onion.
    • Be sure to taste for seasoning before serving! This is a bold dressing that's meant to be super flavorful, so if it's tasting a little dull, add an extra pinch of salt and mix well before serving.
