pickled serrano peppers

what you'll need

serrano peppers garlic (optional) unseasoned rice vinegar kosher salt sugar

step 1

gather the ingredients for the pickled serrano peppers

step 2

thinly slice the serrano peppers and add the to a glass jar or other nonreactive container

step 3

smash the garlic cloves, if using, remove the skins, and add them to the jar

step 4

add the vinegar, sugar and salt to a pan, bring up to a boil, down to a simmer, and stir

step 5

pour the hot brine over the sliced serrano peppers and the smashed garlic

step 5

let pickled peppers cool for about 30 minutes, then serve or store for later use
