Easy 4-Ingredient Guacamole Recipe

This easy 4-ingredients guacamole recipe is made with creamy avocado, bright lime juice, and pico de gallo for an appetizer that's super simple to make and so delicious!

  • 2 large avocados about 3.5 cups
  • 1 cup pico de gallo prepared, see note 1
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste

Instructions

  • To make guacamole, cut the avocados in half lengthwise and twist to reveal the pit.
  • Remove the pit with a kitchen knife.
  • Use a spoon to scoop the flesh of the avocado out of its skin and into a mixing bowl.
  • Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the avocado to your desired consistency.
  • Combine the pico de gallo with the avocados and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Add the lime juice and salt, mixing to combine. Taste for seasoning and serve!

Notes

General
  1. Try to choose a pico de gallo that is not overly watery. If your pico de gallo has a lot of liquid, strain some of it before preparing the guacamole. You can always add more liquid with extra lime juice.
  2. The best way I have found to slow the oxidation process (the process that causes the brown color in avocados) is to soak a paper towel with lime juice and gently pat it over the entire surface of the guacamole.
Storage and Reheating
  1. Fridge: Store leftover guacamole in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. You can also place a piece of plastic wrap over top of the guacamole. 
  2. Freezer: For the best results, place guacamole in a freezer-safe bag, remove as much air as possible, seal, and freeze. It will last for about 3 to 4 months.
  3. Reheating: There is no need to reheat this recipe, but if you'd like to bring it to room temperature, feel free to leave it on the counter for about 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
